Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in technical program management and managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- 7 years of experience in leadership roles with direct reports.
- 5 years of experience managing projects.
- Experience working with Cloud technologies and platforms.
- 7 years of experience in supervisory.
- Ability to exercise technical decision-making and influence team members in solving software engineering issues.

Responsibilities
- Lead planning for technical program portfolios including direct influence over resourcing decisions, planning cadence, and planning stakeholders.
- Drive execution, accelerating and unblocking engineering teams to deliver at high velocity.
- Establish a reliable and visible cadence for portfolio reviews, decision making, prioritization, whereby improvements are measurable and the impact can be felt organization wide.
- Lead and grow a team of Technical Program Managers to deliver critical programs.
- Communicate and influence effectively with senior leadership, technical stakeholders, cross-discipline stakeholders, partners and customers.
