Overview

Job Description

Supervise and coordinate the technical operations of the assigned cost center to ensure that accurate and timely laboratory services are provided to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Develop and implement policies and procedures for assigned area. Ensure compliance with Shands Jacksonville Policies and Procedures. Provide supervision and leadership to the staff. Work closely with other supervisors to coordinate laboratory functions. Prepare and manage assigned cost center budget. Schedule staff and make workstation assignments. Work as a technologist when necessary. Ensure all regulatory, licensing and accreditation requirements are fulfilled for assigned areas. Perform all assigned duties in a caring and professional manner to serve as a model to create an environment where the patient and the customer are of primary importance.

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups. Required Education: Bachelor's Degree. Associate's Degree with +8y relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of Bachelor's Degree. Preferred Education: Master's Degree Necessary Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work well under pressure to complete deadlines. Demonstrate appropriate computer skills. Technically competent in principles and procedures of assigned laboratory disciplines. Understanding of laboratory regulatory issues. Required Licensure/Certifications: Florida Licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in assigned area. Required Experience: Over 5 years - Technologist, Histocompatibility Technologist, Histotechnologist or Cytotechnologist. Preferred Experience: Supervisor experience. Supervision: Supervisory responsibility of 30 employees. Budgetary Responsibility: Responsible for annual budget of $2,500,000.00. Preferred Licensure/Certifications: National certification from ASCP Board of Certification (BOC) for assigned work areas
