Description

Position: Kitchen Prep – Bar Preparation

Position Summary

The Kitchen Prep – Bar Preparation role is focused on supporting the bar team by preparing and organizing house-made ingredients for cocktail service. You will be responsible for ensuring all ingredients are fresh, properly prepared, and readily available for the bar staff to use, while maintaining a clean and efficient prep area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
  • Prepare garnishes, syrups, bitters, and other essential cocktail ingredients.
  • Track bar prep and ingredient usage using the bar prep sheet and daily bar grocery sheet.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar prep area, including washing and sanitizing tools, glassware, and surfaces.
  • Properly dispose of trash and recyclables.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the walk-in refrigerator and surrounding storage areas.
  • Monitor and maintain the proper usage and condition of equipment and supplies.
  • Track inventory levels and communicate any shortages to the Bar Manager.
  • Rotate stock regularly to ensure ingredient freshness and minimize waste.
  • Label, date, and store beverage items at the appropriate temperatures.
  • Adhere to house Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and NYC Department of Health (DOH) regulations for food and beverage handling.
  • Follow all health and hygiene guidelines to maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a bar prep or kitchen prep role is preferred.
  • Strong knife skills and familiarity with common kitchen tools.
  • Knowledge of bar supplies, ingredients, and basic cocktail recipes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Basic math skills for ingredient measurements and inventory management.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift for extended periods of time, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfort with walking up and down stairs while carrying boxes or other necessary items.
  • Willingness to perform repetitive motions and work around hot kitchen equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to remain focused and efficient in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Work Schedule

  • Flexible availability required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
