Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker to join our commercial construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of HVAC ductwork and related sheet metal components on commercial job sites. This position requires technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, assemble, and secure sheet metal duct systems, HVAC equipment, and related components according to blueprints, specifications, and project requirements.
• Measure, cut, bend, and shape sheet metal using hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery.
• Perform field layout, fitting, and adjustments to ensure proper system alignment and airflow performance.
• Collaborate with foremen, project managers, and other trades to coordinate installation schedules and resolve issues.
• Operate lifts, scaffolding, and other equipment safely and in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
• Inspect completed work for quality, accuracy, and compliance with plans and specifications.
• Mentor apprentices and promote a culture of teamwork and continuous learning.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean, organized work environment.
  
  

Qualifications

• Current Journeyman Sheet Metal License or equivalent recognized certification. Or verifiable work history.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in commercial sheet metal installation.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, sheet metal fabrication, and installation practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and sheet metal equipment.
• Comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and in varying weather conditions.
• Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform physical tasks including walking, climbing, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., and operating tools.
• Visual and auditory acuity required for job site activities.
• Frequent standing, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
• Frequent reaching overhead.
• Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding for extended periods.
