Summary

The MIL Corporation is seeking a Jira Business Analysis, Senior Analyst (Business Analysis, Senior Analyst) to support a Federal Government client in Charleston, SC. This senior-level role focuses on designing and optimizing Jira projects, workflows, and automations to enable efficient business processes across a portfolio of applications and projects. Experience with Jira Service Management (JSM)—including request types, SLAs, and customer portal design—is a plus.

This position currently requires an on-site schedule. Schedule is subject to change based on company/contract requirements.

Responsibilities

Workflow & Automation Design

  • Design and document complex workflows and process maps using Visio (or similar tools) to align with business requirements and best practices.
  • Build and maintain Jira automations and advanced JQL queries to streamline processes, reporting, and cross-team visibility.
  • Collaborate with the central Jira administration team to ensure configurations and automations support stakeholder needs.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirements Gathering

  • Engage with senior project managers, product owners, and other stakeholders to capture and document requirements for new or improved workflows and automations.
  • Analyze existing Jira and, when applicable, JSM usage to recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, reporting, and scalability.
  • Provide training and create user guides for new or updated processes, automations, and—if present—service desk portals or knowledge base integrations.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead governance efforts for change control, risk management, and consistency across projects and teams.
  • Identify and implement best practices for Jira and, where beneficial, JSM features such as customer portals and knowledge base integration.
  • Produce senior-level status reports and metrics to track project health, SLA performance (if JSM is in scope), and overall tool effectiveness.

Travel

Up to 10% domestic travel, as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience working with Jira (or comparable issue-tracking/service-management platforms) in an Agile environment.
  • Proven expertise creating Jira automations and writing advanced JQL queries.
  • Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and Agile principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Visio for workflow design.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder-engagement skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Jira Service Management capabilities such as request types, queues, SLAs, and customer portal design.
  • PMP or CAPM certification.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience.

For this position, the projected compensation range is $67,074 - $100,612 per year. This estimate represents the typical salary range and is just one part of MIL’s complete compensation package.
