Description

Under the direction of the IT Director, the IT Support Technician, will provide user assistance with problems related to the use of company technology while maintaining compliance with defined company policies regarding the use of technology.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a technology related field is required.
  • Two (2) years of experience of general computer installation, maintenance and troubleshooting repair experience is required or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed.
  • Apple (Mac), A+, Network+ or Microsoft Certifications are preferred.
  • LANs and WANs experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in non-profit is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include any supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Works with other team members to resolve simple and difficult technical issues
  • Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational departments.
  • Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; pull cables and rewire or direct the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
  • Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
  • Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; staffs a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice.
  • Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
  • Assists in instructing Porter-Leath staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management; provide instruction or written documentation where required.
  • Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary; and,
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of Computer hardware, software and peripherals such as installing, configuring, assembling and repairing computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers and related hardware.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues by using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures.
  • Experience in communicating effectively with co-workers, contractors, superiors, the general public, others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
  • Experience in instructing users seeking technical assistance via phone, ticket system or email.
  • Provide superior customer support work in a team-oriented environment.

Physical Demands

No unusual physical requirements, requires no heavy lifting, and nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. Occasional-Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present. Requires frequent sitting, handling objects with hands, talking, hearing, reaching; requires occasional standing, walking, lifting up to 25-50 pounds. Requires the ability to see color/black-white information in print and/or electronic form.

Special Conditions

Maintain a valid driver's license with a good driving record with appropriate level of insurance.

Salary Description

17.69 - 26.74
