CNO’s IT Intern program is designed to provide college students practical, hands-on development experience in IT within a public insurance company.
As an IT Intern you will work in one of three key areas of IT:

CNO’s IT Intern program is designed to provide college students practical, hands-on development experience in IT within a public insurance company.
As an IT Intern you will work in one of three key areas of IT:
- Information Security (aka cybersecurity): Evaluate existing processes regarding corporate adherence to security protocols, and adoption of CNO security rules and standards. Review documentation and on-boarding protocols for the Security team.
- Development: You will work as part of an Agile team to deliver value to the organization. Areas of interest include Jave, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, Perl and Data Delivery.
- AI: Work within our newly formed AI agile team seeking opportunities to leverage AI in creative ways to increase efficiency and/or increase revenue.
- Business Architecture: Work alongside our business partners to understand how CNO delivers value through organization, structure, and processes.
As an IT Intern, your responsibilities will include:
- Engage with Business/IT stakeholders
- Update, modify, develop and work to automate reports
- Perform code review and adhere to code quality standards.
- Produce and participate in the design, analysis and presentation of work outputs
- Collaborate with business, solution architecture, testing and development team
- Responsible for creating product backlog items, work items, and managing work execution.
- Expected to attend and participate sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews/product demos, and sprint retrospectives.

- An in-person event at one of our corporate offices during the summer
- Final Presentations
- Volunteering Event
- Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in, computer science, informatics, software development, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity or any information systems related discipline
- Currently enrolled student with status as a junior or senior, and anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and December 2028.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Availability to work mid-May through early August 2026
- Proficient understanding and functional knowledge of programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, and Perl.
- Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently and as a motivated team player
- Ability to be organized and prioritize work; seek direction as appropriate
- Good interpersonal & consultative skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
