The Intern, Systems Administrator will support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems. This internship is designed and intended to provide entry level work experience for students or aspiring IT professionals who meet the minimum qualifications. The position is part-time temporary for up to 1 year with reviews every 90 days to verify progress. Scheduling is somewhat flexible and may be tailored to class schedules or other activities. Candidates that feel comfortable with basic Linux commands (either through a Unix/Linux administration class, previous job experience or self-learning in a home lab) will have a great opportunity to gain real world experience and sharpen their skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the IT team in maintaining hardware, software, and other systems.
  • Assist with monitoring alerts and resolving issues.
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues and provide technical support.
  • Organize and maintain IT resources.
  • Lend IT support in areas such as cybersecurity, programming, analytics, and data center management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

  • Recently completed and ongoing professional development or degree seeking education in related technology fields is required.
  • Demonstrable familiarity with basic Linux commands through classwork, gaming, home built lab experience or similar; is required.
  • Familiar with computer operating systems.
  • Experience in developing strong work ethic with coursework, professional networks, or internships.
  • Flexibility and fluidity to thrive within a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills required.
  • Attention to detail is a must.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.

Key Position Details:

  • Second Shift (2nd): Monday – Friday, 4:00pm – 1:00am ET.
  • Part-time (20 hours per week): Scheduling is somewhat flexible and may be tailored to class schedules or other activities.

The responsibilities of this position require that you have access to sensitive information about Valiantys Federal and Customer systems and information, including Federal proprietary information, protected health information, personally identifiable information, and security relevant information. You will be required to safeguard any information you are exposed to and comply with any special handling requirements and reporting procedures.
