Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Human Resources (HR) to lead and manage all HR functions for our organization. This position requires a bi-lingual individual (English and Spanish) who can work effectively with a diverse team and oversee critical HR functions such as onboarding, compliance, staff training, and ongoing development. As Director of HR, you will play a key role in fostering a positive work culture, ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws, and providing superior customer service to our employees, particularly our caregivers and field staff.
Key Responsibilities
HR Leadership:
Oversee day-to-day HR operations and manage the HR department. Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team and collaborate with senior management on HR strategy and initiatives.
Onboarding & Complianc
e: Lead the onboarding process for new employees, ensuring full compliance with all relevant state and federal employment laws. Ensure that caregivers and field staff are properly oriented and trained.
Training & Developmen
t: Manage the training and professional development of both new and current HR staff, ensuring they are equipped to support the organization’s HR functions effectively.
Employee RelationsServe as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and issues. Provide superior customer service to internal staff, ensuring effective and timely resolution of HR-related matters.
Employment Law ExpertiseMaintain proficiency in Connecticut state and federal employment laws, ensuring company policies and practices align with these laws.
HR Systems & ReportingOversee the maintenance and accuracy of employee records and HR data. Provide periodic HR reports to leadership as needed.
Performance ManagementCollaborate with managers to support employee performance management processes, including coaching, reviews, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
Strategic Planning And Execution
Develop and execute strategic plans for the HR Operations function to meet current needs and anticipate future requirements as we scale. Implement evolving processes to support our growing workforce.
Required Qualifications
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish (verbal and written) required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including experience in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of Connecticut state and federal employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service and build strong relationships with staff at all levels.
Experience in onboarding, training, and compliance management.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to commute to the main office located in Waterbury, CT.
Preferred Qualifications
SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification a plus.
Experience working in healthcare or with field-based staff (caregivers, nurses, etc.) preferred.
