Head of Finance
Genius Unlocked Coaching Institute

At Genius Unlocked, we believe everyone has their own genius — and we’re looking for someone whose genius is finance.
We’re a fast-growing coaching company helping people unlock their potential. With 300+ active clients, multiple programs, and several live sales events each quarter, we’re not your typical business with one product line and predictable transactions. We’re dynamic, people-centered, and family-oriented, with over seven figures in revenue and a culture built on empathy, care, and genuine support.
This isn’t just a bookkeeping job — you’ll fully own our finance department. From reconciling accounts to supporting clients with care, you’ll be the go-to expert balancing technical precision with human connection.
This role is perfect if you:
- Love the satisfaction of everything balancing to the penny
- Actually enjoy talking to people about money (in a helpful, empathetic way)
- Thrive on variety — from diving into QuickBooks to streamlining processes
- Are proactive, resourceful, and excited to build systems that last
- Manage client accounts, invoices, payment plans, and collections in QuickBooks
- Connect with clients around late/declined payments in a caring, solutions-focused way
- Ensure accurate session eligibility tracking across programs
- Enter and pay bills, credit card transactions, and ACH payments
- Manage affiliate/vendor accounts, contracts, and commission payouts
- Reconcile merchant (Stripe, PayPal, Venmo) and bank accounts
- Maintain accurate financial operations spreadsheets and workflows
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Process accurate multi-state payroll, benefits, and 401K deductions
- Support employee onboarding/offboarding with compliance in mind
- Partner with leadership on process improvements and financial analysis
- Document workflows, identify inefficiencies, and support automation (Zapier, integrations)
- Engage with team communications via Slack, Asana, and live event support
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of hands-on bookkeeping/accounting experience (service-based preferred)
- Strong QuickBooks Online and Gusto payroll skills
- Proven collections experience with a people-first approach
- Excellent communication — clear, empathetic, and confident
- Self-directed and resourceful problem-solver
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Stripe, PayPal, Venmo, ThriveCart
- Familiarity with automation tools (Zapier, integrations)
- Comfort with Google Workspace, Slack, and Asana
Mindset Fit
- Intrapreneurial: treat the department like it’s your own business
- Balanced: detail-oriented but not paralyzed by perfection
- People + numbers: equally at home in spreadsheets and on calls
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Autonomy & trust — we don’t micromanage
- Variety & growth — no two days look the same
- Supportive culture — mistakes = opportunities to learn
- Work-life balance — family always comes first
- Learning opportunities — expand into financial analysis, commissions, or strategic projects
Practical Details
- Full-time (~40 hrs/week), flexible start times (8–10 AM PT)
- Monday–Friday, with real respect for personal time
- $72,000-$80,000 annual salary DOE
- PTO: 40 hrs/year + paid company closures (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s)
- Optional commission opportunities at sales events
Growth Path
You’re not slotting into someone else’s system — you’ll own the finance department. Within 90 days, you’ll be running everything smoothly; by 6 months, you’ll be a key partner in strategy, efficiency, and growth.
Ready to Apply?
If you’re detail-oriented but not rigid, people-focused but not a pushover, and ready to own a department while being part of a supportive team — we want to meet you.
