Grounds Maintenance Crew Leader

Summary

Responsible for assisting the Field Supervisor and assuming Field Supervisor duties in their absence. Also, responsible for applying herbicides, insecticides, fungicides in City parks and operating maintenance equipment as needed.

Salary

$16.50 - $20.50 (depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Apply herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers, etc in City parks.
• Supervise and assist crew members in their daily work duties.
• Complete written reports as required by managers.
• Maintain daily communication with customers.
• Operate backhoes, loaders, mowers, and assist in ball field maintenance.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• 4 years experience
  
  

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

• 4-5 years experience in grounds maintenance
  
  

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• General knowledge of chemicals
• General knowledge of ball field maintenance
• Skill in basis computer operations
• Ability of operate equipment
• Ability to read and understand chemical labels
  
  

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Class C Texas driver's license

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works in an outdoor environment; frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Majority of work performed outside or with exposure to risk.
