Do you want to help make a difference in the lives of the public? The DOJ is currently looking for a highly motivated and talented individual to join our Division of Legal Services as a Forensic Accountant (Accountant-Journey) in the Medicaid Fraud Control and Elder Abuse Unit.

This position is headquartered at the Risser Justice Center located at 17 West Main Street in Madison.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of a Deputy Unit Director, the Forensic Accountant performs complex accounting duties which require the knowledge and application of professional forensic accounting theories and principles. The work has an emphasis on conducting audits of, and examining and analyzing financial records, accounts, and source documents. This position requires preparing for and testifying at civil and criminal proceedings, including at jury trials. This professional position requires working independently and collaboratively in the unit and engaging in professional development.

Salary Information

The Forensic Accountant (Accountant-Journey) position is in pay schedule 07 and pay range 03. The starting pay will be between $34.00 - $44.33/hour (approx. $70,720 - $92,206 annually). Pay for current or former state employees will follow the provisions found in the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Additional compensation may be given to candidates with licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a Certified Forensic Accountant (CRFAC).

Job Details

This position may be eligible to work remotely up to 3-days per week as part of a hybrid schedule, following an initial training period. Travel to the headquarters is not eligible for travel reimbursement.

High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work.

The Department of Justice does not sponsor work visas at the time of hire or anytime during employment. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and complete the required Employment Eligibility Form I-9.
