Position Summary

A Japanese food trading corporation is looking for a Food Safety Specialist (Japanese Bilingual) to join their team. This role involves providing essential documents, developing HACCP plans, verifying compliance, investigating non-conformities, preparing for audits, conducting internal audits, researching import regulations, and managing facility audits. It also includes frequent travel, attending company events, and participating in inventory counts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides essential documents to customers, including spec sheets, raw material specifications, audit certificates, and letters of guarantee.
  • Develops and maintains HACCP food safety plans and prerequisite programs such as sanitation, GMPs, food defense, recall, allergen, and supplier verification.
  • Verifies imported product labeling and ingredients to ensure compliance with US regulations, and researches import regulations for products under USDA/APHIS/FSIS jurisdiction.
  • Investigates non-conformities, identifies root causes, implements corrective actions, and addresses customer complaints about quality discrepancies.
  • Ensures all required documents are prepared for audits, HACCP verifications, and equipment calibrations, and conducts monthly internal audits to identify and address quality issues.
  • Travels frequently to support other branches, attends company events outside of normal working hours, and participates in semiannual inventory counts.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or other relevant studies strongly preferred
  • 2+ years of food safety or other relevant experience preferred
  • Business level Japanese required
  • Knowledge of food safety procedures
  • Demonstrates basic Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
  • Has strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Has strong customer service and problem-solving skills


BASE SALARY USD45,000-58,000 (DOE)
