Position Summary: The position will require a high level of organization, program coordination, communication and creativity. The Farm Programs Coordinator will provide primary coordination and communication for all of Urban Growers Collective’s Training Programs, including but not limited to: Apprenticeship Programs, Workshops, Public Events and Partner Support.

The Farm Program Coordinator will work closely with program staff to coordinate enrichment activities for partner sites, and volunteer support for UGC’s operations.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Apprenticeship Program Support (55% - 22hrs/week*):

  • Herbal Apprentice (lead support)
    • Coordinate and support onsite learning in the herbal garden;
    • Coordinate work-share hours and opportunities for apprenticeship participants;
    • Coordinate herbal program workshops, including speakers, supplies, registration and honorariums;
    • Support online program engagement and learning through designated platform;
    • Provide administrative and onsite support to lead program coordinators - Support Herbalism Conductor with materials prep, attendance tracking, apprentice program completion standards;
    • Support Herbalism Conductor and intake review committee with new apprentice application and onboarding process.
    • Support finance department to collect tuition payments and provide workshare options;
    • Maintain updated program calendars;
    • Assist with end of year evaluations, and grant reports;
    • Ensure accurate apprentice workshare reporting and recording: program impact, liability waivers, hours, contact information, photo documentation, evaluation, etc;
  • Grower Apprentice (communication, compliance & reporting support)
    • Coordinate and support onsite learning in the collective learning and teaching garden;
    • Coordinate work-share hours and opportunities for apprenticeship participants;
    • Coordinate farm program workshops, including speakers, supplies, registration and honorariums;
    • Support online program engagement and learning through designated platform;
    • Support Program leads with materials prep, attendance tracking, apprentice program completion standards;
    • Support Program leads and intake review committee with new apprentice application and onboarding process.
    • Support finance department to collect tuition payments and provide workshare options;
    • Develop wayfinding signs for teaching and learning farm;
    • Maintain updated program calendars;
    • Assist with end of year evaluations, and grant reports
    • Ensure accurate apprentice workshare reporting and recording: program impact, liability waivers, hours, contact information, photo documentation, evaluation, etc;

Workshop & Onsite Event Support (20% - 8hrs/week*):

  • Enhance and expand workshops through outreach and programming;
  • Support calendar, event coordination and outreach, event staffing;
  • Prep all materials, supplies and space for workshop facilitation;
  • Set up, staff and break down registration tables at events;
  • Ensure accurate workshop reporting and recording: program impact, liability waivers, hours, contact information, etc;
  • Coordinate and collect evaluation materials for organization events and trainings;
  • Coordinate other event logistics for on-farm and local events;
  • Participate in outreach and relationship building with community partners;
  • Represent UGC in a professional, inclusive and respectful way at events.


Fresh Moves Partnerships Coordination (20% - 8hrs/week*)

  • Develop and maintain relationships with partner site coordinators
  • Work with each coordinator to promote the site & make any needed adjustments to ensure the site thrives & adequately serves the needs of the community
  • Enhance and expand market pathway impact through onboarding new partners and scheduling events;


General Administration (5% - 2hrs / week):

  • Contribute to monthly program reports;
  • Complete weekly work plan and daily checkouts;
  • Participate in weekly team meetings;
  • Submit accurate timesheets & expense reports;
  • Maintain appropriate supplies for projects;
  • Provide coordination and communication for select new initiatives, as needed.
  • Participate in outreach and relationship building with potential community partners, as needed;
  • Creating content for social media and other outreach initiatives;
  • Represent UGC in a professional, inclusive and respectful way at meetings and personal social media pages.


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • At least 3 years experience in a community facing program coordination role;
  • Experience and knowledge of food systems and organic sustainable farming;
  • Proven track record with establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with teens, parents, community partners and residents, especially underrepresented communities and communities of color;
  • Competency working with communities of color and diverse workplace; experience in dismantling racism and anti-oppression work is important;
  • Ability to problem solve, think critically and creatively;
  • Must work well as a member of a team and have the ability to supervise staff in a consistent, direct, thoughtful way geared towards educating and problem solving;
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries in working with co-workers and teens;
  • Excellent organizational, communication and follow-through skills;
  • Basic familiarity with Google Workspace & GSuite, and/or willingness to learn;
  • Willingness to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment, but have the ability to work independently to complete the job;
  • Love for urban farming and passionate about social equity issues with ability to cooperate and communicate with diverse partners, including neighbors, supporters, funders and public officials;
  • Excellent organizational, communication and follow-through skills;
  • Required: COVID-19 Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption with mandatory weekly testing
  • Required: Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record

  • Required: Able to work on Saturdays and occasional holidays

  • Must be willing and prepared to work outdoors or from a sheltered outdoor office in all weather conditions (hot, humid, rainy, cool);
  • Position will require frequent walking, standing and occasional lifting;
  • Position will require a high level of engagement with partners and community members.


Schedule:

  • This is a full-time salaried position, 40 hours per week
  • Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30-5:00p (regular schedule) / 10:00a-7:00p (if evenings required)
  • Breaks: 2 - 20 minute breaks (paid) + 30 minute lunch (unpaid)
  • Occasional evening hours will be required to participate in farm and community events. Start time will be flexed to accommodate change in schedule.
