The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta invites applications for a graduate position (MSc or PhD) in the field of Medical Robotics. This opportunity is focused on research and development of Magnetically Actuated Continuum Robots (MCRs) for medical applications, under the supervision of Professor Bita Fallahi. Project Overview
– Design and prototyping of flexible magnetic surgical robots
– Modeling and simulation of robot behavior under magnetic fields
– Development of precise control systems for medical navigation
– Collaboration with medical professionals for integration in real-world clinical settings
Candidate Requirements
– A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering (BSc or MSc)
– Strong background in robotics, controls, or mechatronics
– Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or C++
– Experience with modeling, simulation, and hardware systems
– Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated enthusiasm for research
