Calty Design Research, Inc. is part of Toyota’s global design network and contributes innovative design concepts for a diverse vehicle and mobility lineup. Calty’s primary goal is to research market trends and create innovative vehicle and mobility designs that reflect US tastes as well as other global markets. Who We’re Looking For

We are currently seeking an experienced Automotive Interior Designer specializing in concept design for our Advanced Design Studio located in Newport Beach, California.

What You’ll Be Doing

Originating and developing ideas for concepts, near production and/or production design for mobility products by performing the following duties as a member of a project team:

• Producing automotive interior sketches, renderings and Blender or equivalent models for mainly concept and/or production products;
• Should have familiarity and working knowledge of AI integration into design process;
• Participating in mobility design development or adaptation and oversees projects as assigned;
• Creating design/styling ideas based on factors such as aesthetics, human factors, materials, engineering, packaging, application, methods of production, cost, market characteristics and appropriateness based on objectives of project;
• Preparing design data and technical drawings for model-making and engineering;
• Working with CAD modelers to develop 3D models and provide guidance regarding design changes as required;
• UX conceptualization a plus but not required;
• Conducting research to support development of project concepts;
• Integrating findings and concepts into two and three dimensional sketches and models.
  
  

What You Bring

• A Bachelor’s in Transportation Design, or a similar discipline.
• 3+ years’ professional automotive design experience preferably at an OEM.
• Demonstrated skill in verbal and visual communication, analytic skills, attention to detail, planning and organizing and collaboration.

The annual base rate for this position is $85,000-$140,000.
