WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
GWC is a dedicated international nonprofit committed to eradicating the water crisis. We strive to make a positive impact on communities around the world through our innovative programs and partnerships.
We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to serve as the right-hand assistant to George C Greene III, primarily supporting him in his roles as Co-founder and Board Member of Water Mission and Executive Chairman of the Global Water Center. The Executive Chairman plays a pivotal role in advancing the mission of the Global Water Center, while also serving on the Executive Committee, Governance Committee, and Mission True Committee of the Water Mission Board.
This highly motivated and organized individual will provide critical support across a wide range of responsibilities, including administrative support, travel coordination, board activities, donor engagement, email correspondence, and occasional leadership of technical projects. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills, discretion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
The ideal candidate has a passion for the missions of the Global Water Center and Water Mission, bringing a servant’s heart, professionalism, and enthusiasm to support these impactful ministries.
While the requirements of this position can be met virtually much of the time, there are times when the person must be able to participate in in-person meetings in the office and annual multi day offsite board and staff retreats.
Candidates are encouraged to visit the Water Mission and Global Water Center websites to familiarize themselves with both ministries.
This hybrid remote/office position is based out of North Charleston, SC.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive Support
- Manage the Executive Chairman's calendar, appointments, and meeting schedules, ensuring seamless coordination between Global Water Center and Water Mission responsibilities.
- Respond to emails, draft correspondence, and prioritize communication on behalf of the Executive Chairman.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials for meetings, conferences, and speaking engagements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Executive Chairman, ensuring clear and professional communication.
- Maintain a high-level knowledge of Global Water Center and Water Mission’s organizational objectives, projects, and activities.
Travel Coordination
- Plan and coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements for the Executive Chairman, including flights, accommodations, and itineraries.
- Ensure all travel logistics align seamlessly with the Chairman’s responsibilities across both organizations.
Board Activities
- Provide administrative support for the Global Water Center Board, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, compiling board materials, and maintaining organized records. Book conference rooms and assist with conference room set-up and facility tours as needed.
- Support the Executive Chairman’s role on the Water Mission Board by preparing meeting materials, coordinating committee activities, and managing follow-up tasks for the Executive, Governance, and Mission True Committees.
- Attend Global Water Center Board meetings and record meeting minutes for the Global Water Center Board and ensure timely distribution and follow-through on action items.
Donor and Stakeholder Engagement
- Draft and send personalized thank-you letters and emails to donors, partners, and stakeholders.
- Support donor engagement initiatives, ensuring timely and professional communication that reflects the missions of both ministries.
- Update CRM records of donor and stakeholder touchpoints.
Technical and Strategic Project Support
- Assist with or lead select technical or strategic projects, such as data gathering, research, and preparation of analytical reports.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives for both ministries.
- Assist with the planning of special events for prospects and partners; responsibilities may include arranging venues, producing event timelines, managing event budgets, and assisting with other event needs (set-up, implementation, and tear-down).
Administrative Tasks
- Maintain organized files and documentation for the Executive Chairman’s office.
- Order supplies, manage expense reports, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.
- Support special projects and initiatives that advance the missions of the Global Water Center and Water Mission.
- Provide administrative support for personal commitments, travel, and miscellaneous social activities.
- Provide professional and quality verbal and written communication on behalf of the executive with board members, partners, staff, and the public via emails, phone calls, letters, and packaging and shipping materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience: 5+ years in a similar administrative or executive assistant role, preferably in nonprofit or faith-based organizations.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Salesforce, and Smartsheet.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, reflecting grace and professionalism. Fluent written and spoken English required.
- Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Interpersonal Skills: Professional demeanor and ability to interact effectively with board members, donors, staff, and external partners.
- Problem-Solving: Resourceful and proactive in resolving issues and anticipating the needs of the Executive Chairman.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in preparing correspondence, reports, and other documents.
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 35 lbs.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, type, carry, kneel, ascend, and descend stairs, and bend.
- Ability to work primarily indoors with frequent work outdoors in multiple types of weather / environmental conditions.
- Ability to work outside the normal Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm workweek if needed.
- Ability to travel internationally as needed.
