Position Summary
The Events & Programs Manager is a key member of the Chamber, playing a vital role in its success by creating, planning, and executing events in both in-person and virtual event settings. This individual will work closely with the Events and Programs, Membership Development, Public Affairs, and Communication/Marketing teams on the various stages of event development.
A person in this role will be responsible for developing events that meet department revenue goals, share impactful information with Chamber membership, support the Chamber’s position as an anti-racist organization, and strengthen relationships with stakeholders in the Seattle Metro Region.
In this role, an ideal candidate will have a team player mindset and a strong event management background that includes developing programming and content for events. This person will take initiative, be capable of working both independently and collaboratively with others and develop programming for events that meet the needs of the Chamber and align with its mission.
This role will be a liaison to other key areas internally and externally, requiring a high level of attention to detail and professionalism, as well as the ability to be a flexible problem solver. This role requires attendance and support of other Chamber events led by different team members, including willingness and ability to attend early or late events as well as travel to event locations across the city of Seattle.
This role directly reports to the Director of Events & Programs.

The Events and Programs Manager is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and managing Chamber events including the Chamber’s Alaska Business Forum, Industry Insights Series, Community Development Roundtable, Councilmember Coffee Chats, Pacific Northwest Study Mission, Seattle Day, and ad hoc support of other Chamber and partner programs. - Working with Events & Programs colleagues to plan, organize, and direct Community Development Roundtable weekly series. Collaborate with Chamber leadership and program chair on content development, speaker requests, event logistics, nominations process, budget, and other administrative processes.
- Partnering with the Marketing & Communications team to set vision for look, write compelling event page copy, develop marketing plan, marketing language, and talking points for each program managed.
- Growing participation in Chamber events and programs through use of promotional tools, networking, and collaborating with the Marketing & Communications department. Also working with other Chamber departments and community partners to market Chamber programs.
- Leading the recommendation, design, development, and implementation of new strategies and programs that achieve the department’s mission and impact the organization overall.
- Working with membership team to engage new members in Chamber programming and maintain the relationship with stakeholders
- Supporting registration duties across the team, serving as lead registrar for a handful of events.
- Acquiring in-kind support for Chamber programs, i.e., goods, services and venues.
- Performing administrative duties including but not limited to correspondence and proofreading.
- Managing special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Assisting in assembling and disassembling supplies and equipment for events.
- Managing and coordinating volunteers.
- 3 years’ experience developing content for programming and leading event logistics, or related applicable experience.
- Experience assessing and evaluating programs and implementing needed changes.
- Strong leadership skills; experience handling multiple tasks and project management experience.
- Strong verbal skills; demonstrated written communication skills, including writing panel questions and event marketing copy.
- Ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to work well with people, to motivate members, staff, and volunteers.
- An effective problem solver, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to speak effectively in public and to represent Chamber viewpoints.
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office (preferred), Adobe Photoshop (preferred), Zoom, and contact management databases.
- Ability to attend early morning and evening events as required.
- Flexibility, ability to work under pressure, ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects.
- Knowledge of and ability to relate effectively to the regional business community and nonprofit community organizations preferred.
