Detailed Responsibilities:
- PATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
- TRANSPORT - Transport patients to other units or to in-patient testing areas
- DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
- PATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
- PATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
- PATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
- POLICY & PROCEDURE - Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards
- RECORDS & SUPPORT - Maintain record keeping and filing system; make photocopies; run errands; perform other support duties as assigned
- TRANSPORT - Transport patients, collect, label and transport specimens, equipment, supplies, charts and materials to include arterial blood gas specimens
- PATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"
- PATIENT CARE - Clean patient care rooms, equipment and instruments; report equipment problems; order and store supplies; maintain appropriate PAR levels
- PATIENT CARE - Assist nursing staff/physicians in complicated treatment procedures; perform routine treatment procedures
- PATIENT CARE - Identify and assess clinical situations beyond their scope and promptly notifies a nurse and/or physician
- EQUIPMENT - Assist with the provision of administrative support in regards to equipment maintenance, calibration and statistical data compilation
- ASSIST - Assist the nurse in the management of observation unit patients
- CUSTOMER RELATIONS - Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospitals employees
- WOUND CARE - Complete wound care process according to medical protocol under the direct supervision of RN or physician
- PERFORM - Perform dispatch duties as required
- PATIENT CARE - Provide oxygen therapy, I.V. setup, catheterization, apply cardiac monitor and other duties as assigned under the supervision of RN or attending physician as requested

- EMT-I or Paramedic Program w/in 6 Months of Position
