Provost & Pritchard Consulting Group is a civil engineering firm headquartered in California. They are looking for a detail-oriented and resourceful Data Analyst to join their growing team, where the role involves applying technical skills to solve real-world challenges across various industries. The Data Analyst will work closely with clients and staff to enhance data capabilities and implement data processing workflows.


Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal and external clients on projects requiring solutions with data
  • Support or lead work on projects with data components
  • Work closely with other data staff to maintain, improve, and operate existing data processing and visualization workflows
  • Work closely with other staff to grow Provost and Pritchard’s data capabilities and develop best management practices for data across Service Sectors
  • Design and implement workflows and supporting documentation to automate the collection of data from multiple internal and external sources to serve to reports, maps, and other staff
  • Identify and leverage patterns within data to standardize and transform datasets
  • Work with many types of data (tabular, spatial, time-series, and others) to perform analysis
  • Use strong communication skills to collaborate with a wide variety of personalities and understandings, providing a high level of customer service
  • Perform quality control on work of other Specialists
  • Approach tasks with an innovative mindset to provide practical solutions with a high level of quality


Qualification


Required

  • 1-5 years of experience in a job primarily performing data analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to devise, communicate, and implement solutions.
  • Ability to convert data between different formats and use multiple techniques for quality control.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision with strong organizational skills.
  • Experience with client service/contact and being an effective part of a project team.
  • Adaptability to a wide variety of project areas including water resource management, geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, environmental or earth science, biology, chemistry, civil/agricultural/environmental engineering, etc.
  • Math skills, including statistics, spatial statistics, and spatial analysis.
  • Strong background in programming and development of scripts or programs, particularly in R or Python.
  • Familiarity with data and programming best practices, particularly in R or Python.
  • Experience with utilizing data in both standard and non-standard formats and summarizing in tables, graphics, and reports.
  • Experience retrieving, transforming, and analyzing large environmental, public, or remotely sensed datasets (e.g. CIMIS, USGS, NOAA, CDEC, LandSat, Sentinel)


Preferred

  • Minimum of a BS Degree in Data Science, Statistics, Geography, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other physical sciences preferred.
  • Coursework in data analysis, programming, GIS, and relational databases
  • Portfolio of at least one senior project or thesis level data analysis project
