Objective
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer identifies and implements process improvements within the organization by analyzing data, developing solutions, and collaborating with teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Responsibilities And Essential Functions
This is a manufacturing facility and as a result, employees have the potential to be exposed to noise, chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, machinery, vibration or other workplace hazards controlled within compliance of current safety and health standards.

Objective
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer identifies and implements process improvements within the organization by analyzing data, developing solutions, and collaborating with teams to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
Responsibilities And Essential Functions
- Lead and support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives across the plant or business unit.
- Analyze current processes, identify areas for improvement, and develop solutions to optimize workflow and eliminate waste.
- Gather and analyze production data to determine the root causes of inefficiencies and implement corrective actions or propose solutions through improvement projects.
- Track and report project outcomes, savings, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Work with various departments to gain feedback, implement changes, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Design, build, and implement equipment upgrades, process enhancements, jigs/fixtures, and workstation layouts.
- Conduct time studies, root cause analyses, and process flow evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
- Work directly on the shop floor to prototype solutions, test modifications, and support implementation.
- Must be able to communicate with floor personnel to achieve a CI culture and goals.
- Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and engineers to develop practical solutions to production challenges.
- Lead and manage projects focused on improving specific areas like uptime, scrap and throughput.
- Support capital projects and equipment installations from concept through build and start-up.
- Submit associated changes through the change control system to implement improvement solutions.
- Must have a strong CI presence on the production floor.
- Provide training and coaching to frontline employees on process changes and lean tools.
- Must be able to support validation activities associated with proposed improvement projects.
- Responsible for ensuring there are processes to standardize workflow and operations in manufacturing.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, work instructions, and standard work.
- Must be able to author and revise work instructions or procedures.
- Work together with relevant departments to ensure that quality issues or safety issues are addressed with appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
- Facilitates regular communication and meetings in project teams and afterwards with employees in manufacturing working with the implemented improvements to ensure sustainability.
- Must be able to contribute to all departments of the facility from a CI perspective.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Provide CI project suggestions and budgets for discussion and approval.
- Lead and manage CI related projects.
- Give direction to employees that are part of the project team.

Qualifications
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations engineering, or a continuous improvement role.
- Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and practical application.
- Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for basic mechanical design.
- Experience with hands-on fabrication, prototyping, or assembly processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept through implementation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Proven record of delivering Continuous Improvement solutions to completion.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
- Medical device industry experience.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Experience with PLCs, automation, or controls.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards and ergonomics.
- Skilled with hand tools and basic machine shop equipment.
