Description

Position Summary:

The Education & Engagement Coordinator is responsible for the planning and execution of logistics for Omaha Performing Arts’ engagement and selected education programs. As a member of the Programming & Education department, the Education & Engagement Coordinator will work closely with staff across numerous departments to plan, develop, and deliver programs, as well as assist with the identification and cultivation of community engagement partners and participants. Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • Coordinate community engagement activities and programs, including but not limited to: Voices Amplified, Curtain Warmers, and Arts Access.
  • Assist with coordination of school-based programs and classes/camps, including but not limited to: Student Matinee Series, Hip Hop Lab, Presents community engagement residency activities, and other education programs as assigned.
  • Coordinate and cultivate outreach efforts that bring education and engagement programs to new schools and communities.
  • Schedule meetings with and assist with communication to community partner/advisory groups as required.
  • Advance key activities and contracted requirements related to partner events, residencies, and workshops with guest artists, panel discussions, pre-show engagement, rehearsals and performances, talkbacks, and associated events.
  • Serve as on-site contact for Voices Amplified, Curtain Warmers, and other assigned events.
  • Travel to off-site partner locations for meetings and events.
  • Participate in engagement strategy, artist involvement, evaluation, and advancement of community initiatives.
  • Prepare and track check requests, assist with contract processing, maintain program planning timelines and track event data, photo requests, and other event requirements.
  • Assist with program participant management and help cultivate relationships with local/national partners, artists, community organizations, schools, and other key stakeholders.
  • Enter program details in room scheduling, ticketing and registration software systems as needed, communicating program information across departments.
  • Maintain Arts Access partner database and collaborate with Ticket Omaha staff to meet program goals.
  • Provide on-site support for education productions, including Disney Musicals in Schools Student Share, Musical Explorers rehearsal/concerts, NE Theater Academy Showcase rehearsal week/performance, and others as needed.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor’s degree in a performing arts, or related field or equivalent preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in office administration, working or volunteering with community organizations or schools; organizing events, programs, or projects for the betterment of the local community.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented self-starter with excellent time-management and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint); knowledge and experience working with Tessitura and Momentus software a plus.
  • Proven ability to multi-task and interact professionally.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must have an appreciation of the performing arts and understanding of how the arts can interface and develop diverse audiences with the ability to diplomatically converse about best practices in community engagement and education.

  • The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • May be required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet; public events are moderate to loud.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
