Position Overview:
The role involves meticulous proofreading and updating of customer fulfillment materials, such as welcome and renewal letters, invoices, declaration pages, and terms and conditions. The Editor must possess a keen eye for detail, excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, demonstrate superior communication abilities, and be well-versed in standard proofreading symbols. The Editor will work closely with Print Production, Campaign Management and Product to ensure the compliant implementation of all creatives and regulatory changes. The Editor will identify errors and/or inconsistencies in artwork, spelling, grammar, punctuation, appearance, and content as well as make sure all material is legally compliant and all state mandates are included. Responsibilities:
- Thoroughly examine the text to pinpoint any spelling, visual, or content discrepancies.
- Utilize established proofreaders’ symbols to clearly indicate and rectify errors within the copy.
- Ensure diligent follow-up on edited drafts to confirm all corrections have been implemented.
- Critically review and adjust documents to guarantee the accurate representation of logos, product names, and legal terminology.
- Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of all materials to maintain adherence to Marketing Guidelines and branding standards, ensuring uniformity in format, style, and design.
- Confirm that documents include all necessary disclaimers, footnotes, legal text, and state-specific regulations.
- Keep reference materials up-to-date with the latest regulatory mandates and partner preferences pertinent to the business.
- Proofread and provide input for new creative content for clarity, compliance requirements, and style.
- Execute comprehensive audits on fulfillment materials and data tables, guaranteeing absolute precision and zero errors.
- Proactively contribute to departmental process enhancement initiatives by developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and crafting educational materials for broader team use.
- Engage collaboratively with relevant teams across the organization to investigate, rectify, and standardize template and artwork accuracy, ensuring consistency across all channels.
- In instances of identified inaccuracies, take charge of updating existing fulfillment setups to align with verified data and standards.
- Take ownership of creating, updating, and managing detailed process documentation and workflow diagrams for proofing and editing tasks within current and future system frameworks, ensuring clarity and efficiency in operations.
- Act as a liaison among the Fulfillment Retention, Campaign Management, Print Production/vendors, and IT teams, ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates by the set deadlines, keeping creatives up-to-date, and facilitating clear communication of system updates to the appropriate teams.
- 3+ years proofreading/editing experience
- College degree in English or Journalism preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with proven time management skills.
- Above-average computer skills, including demonstrated knowledge of programs such as Acrobat and Word.
- Understanding of proper sentence and paragraph construction.
- Proven ability to multi-task and successfully manage multiple, complex concurrent projects.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to understand and use editing and proofreading marks
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Understanding of print production processes, including ability to recognize layout problems.
- Ability to quickly adapt to change.

- Review copy to identify mistakes and/or inconsistencies in spelling, grammar, punctuation, appearance, and content.
- Mark copy to indicate and correct errors in type, arrangement, content, grammar, punctuation, or spelling using standard proofreaders’ marks.
- Read corrected copies or proofs in order to ensure that all corrections have been made.
- Compare information or stats with original copy, to detect errors.
- Ensure documents contain all required disclaimers, footnotes, legal copy.
- Develop familiarity with correct logos, product names and legalese for content/product.
- Review all materials for visual standards and consistency, format, style and design.
- Rewrite/edit copy as necessary.
