Your Impact

The Early Child Educator (Teacher) develops and delivers curriculum to parents and their children ages 0-5 through classroom instruction, workshops, events, and activities at our Resource Center. This position provides new parents with the opportunity to learn about parenting their young children and helping them build social supports, empowering them to become part of a strong parent community.

Your Skills And Duties

  • Develops and provides parent, caregiver and provider education focused on enhancing parenting practices and behaviors
  • Conducts assessments for children prenatal to five (5) using approved child development screenings.
  • Provides developmentally and age-appropriate activities that support active learning and promotes progress in all developmental areas to meet physical, social/emotional, and cognitive development and early literacy.
  • Teaches and delivers parent-child classes and support groups to parents with children ages prenatal to five (5) years using approved curriculum both in-person and virtually as required.
  • Coordinates and assists with hosting events and workshops that promote optimal child and youth development and strengthen families.
  • Establishes event agendas and assists with center calendar development.
  • Monitors attendance, participates in evaluation of services, and supports center registration.
  • Serves as a member of an integrated team of teacher, outreach and child watch staff.
  • Supports projects, initiatives, and/or specific program functions.
  • Completes weekly, monthly documentation and data on classes delivered.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education And Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree or working towards an Associate’s Degree with at least 12 units of Early Childhood Education completed.
  • Three (3) years of experience in family support preferred.
  • Experience related to center-based services and/or home visitation services preferred.
  • Meets all state required conditions of employment as set forth by Community Care Licensing for a Licensed Community Care facility, i.e., Fingerprint and Child Abuse Index clearance, TB/Health Physical, valid CDL, and clean driving record.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing, with clients comprised of parents and children, staff, and partners; make presentations and lead classes.
  • Ability to listen actively and clearly to intake and comprehend the needs of clients, follow instructions, or to collaborate effectively with partners.
  • Ability to see clearly to operate a vehicle, read instructions, write documentation and reports, and conduct visual assessments of client and sites.
  • Ability to comprehend, follow, and clearly convey information to others.

Physical Activities

  • Ability to work on premise in the office and/or client’s home environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to stand and make presentations and deliver training to a live audience.
  • Ability to operate a telephone, cell phone, copier, computer and other office equipment as required.
  • Ability to handle or manipulate objects, materials, tools, and operate controls.
  • Ability to reach for stacked products, store and retrieve file boxes on high shelves.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and/or carry as much as 40 lbs.
  • Ability to have the ability and skill to drive a vehicle.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position and work on a computer for up to 20 hours per week.
