Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for directly supervising, supporting, organizing, evaluating and directing the work of three Financial Services Supervisors who manage the primary financial functions of the City; including income tax administration, payroll, disbursements, treasury, accounts receivable, and financial analysis. Carries out upper-level management, supervisory and professional responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and coaching employees. Planning, assigning, directing, reviewing, and evaluating work product and outcomes. Appraising employee and team performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Must maintain a thorough knowledge of administrative policies and procedures, standard operating guidelines/procedures, and a comprehensive understanding of current public finance standards, rules, and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a closely related field AND seven years of progressively more responsible professional-level work in finance, accounting, collections, or a closely related field, preferably in a governmental agency AND five years of supervisory experience and project management experience.
OR
Master’s Degree in Accounting, Public Administration, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a closely related field AND five years of progressively more responsible professional-level work in finance, accounting, collections, customer service, or a closely related field, preferably in a governmental agency.
A CPA is preferred and may be substituted for five years of the experience listed above as long as the candidate has two years of supervisory experience.
Current certification from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) or the Association of Governmental Accountants (AGA) is preferred and may be substituted for one year of the experience listed above as long as the candidate has one year of supervisory or project management experience.
License Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a job-related medical examination including drug screen. Applicants offered employment with the City will be required to pass a nicotine screening. Newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment. The Tobacco and Nicotine Free Hiring Policy does not apply to current City employees.
