Overview: The Director of Senior Living Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the community, including planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating service programs; managing staff; and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to residents and their families. This role also includes maintaining compliance with all local, state, federal, regulatory, and accrediting body standards.

Key Responsibilities

Management/Financial

  • Supervise Department Heads across all community departments.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and accrediting body standards through regular auditing and updating community policies and procedures.
  • Maintain monthly financial reports and explain variances.
  • Oversee departmental budgets while guiding department heads to meet financial guidelines.
  • Ensure timely collection of account receivables.
  • Identify opportunities for revenue generation and ancillary services.
  • Manage occupancy levels in accordance with budget targets.
  • Encourage staff involvement and participation in operational decision-making, fostering team building during regular meetings.
  • Ensure clear communication with staff regarding inquiries from residents, families, and prospective residents.

Resident Care

  • Guarantee high-quality services that meet residents' needs and preferences.
  • Protect the rights of residents and educate staff, residents, and families about these rights.
  • Coordinate move-in processes with the Sales and Resident Services Departments.
  • Respond promptly to requests from family, residents, and associates.
  • Act as a liaison between management, residents, and families.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis and maintain a detailed competitor comparative analysis.
  • Ensure timely and accurate use of YARDI within the community.
  • Maintain an appealing first impression of the building and resolve any community presentation issues.
  • Work collaboratively with department heads to bolster sales efforts and maximize occupancy levels.

Sales & Marketing

  • Represent Maplewood Senior Living and its communities in public settings.
  • Promote Maplewood Community within the local area.
  • Generate leads and drive successful sales closures.

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in human services management, housing management, or nursing home management.
  • Exceptional customer service and public relations skills.
  • Experience working with seniors in a senior living setting.
  • Proven track record of operating within a customer-focused environment in a senior living facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and nurture professional referral sources.
