Director of Logistics

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is looking for a Director of Logistics to join our Supply Chain team! You will work closely with the growing team at Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as we embark on our next stage of accelerated growth. This role is ideal for you if you have extensive experience in 3PL Management, passion for finding logistical efficiencies and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).

The Director of Logistics is responsible for ensuring success across all key functions of third-party warehousing and logistics operations. This role will work closely with the VP of Supply Chain & Logistics to develop and execute distribution strategies and KPIs for wholesale, retail, and DTC channels.

This role will be based out of our Greenpoint, Brooklyn office and follow Van Leeuwen's Hybrid work model and be in office at least two to three days a week.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop and implement logistics strategies and processes to improve operational efficiency.
• Coordinate and manage the logistics, 3PL warehouse, intercompany transfers, last mile scoop shop delivery, and CPG Order Management & Customer Service.
• Monitor and control inventory, delivery processes, and quality standards.

• Develop and manage budgets in accordance with the financial goals of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.
• Analyze and address logistical challenges and propose proactive solutions.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
• Prepare standard report package reporting overall performance and cost reports for VL leadership.
• Manage and lead teams to 98%OTIF partnered with Director of Supply Chain & VP of Supply Chain to exceed the customers expectations both internally & externally.
• Overseeing and improving 3PL warehouse performance by establishing stronger processes, KPI's, and performance standards.
• Inventory Management across all warehouse locations, including inventory transfer management, rebalancing, and WOS replenishment.
• Managing inventory levels and ensuring the accuracy of IOH while partnering with pears to continuously supply inventory availability.
• Oversee (and initially perform) Wholesale Order fulfillment, including EDI and ASN connection build-out
• Provide support and improve line of sight of sales fulfillment for sales team
• Improving On Time Delivery and Total Order Fulfillment success rates
• Reduce OOS occurrences at Retail Scoop Shops
• Build strong processes and carrier relationships to minimize accessorial freight charges
• Manage and meet budget for all Logistics Costs
• Collaborate with VP of Supply Chain and Logistics to:
• Build Annual Logistics Budget
• Ad Hoc Distribution and Logistics Initiatives
• Establish new 3PL warehouse and logistics systems for new and existing retail (scoop shop) markets
• Onboard new 3PL warehouses as necessary
• Build internal logistics team while improving internal processes

Job Requirements

• Masters Degree in Supply Chain or related field
• 8 to 10 years of related experience
• Experience in food or beverage manufacturing
• Experience with third party logistics and warehousing required
• People Management experience required
• Experience with ERP (NetSuite) & TMS application
• Proficient in microsoft suite

Compensation + Benefits

$150,000 - $170,000 annual compensation depending on experience, paid weekly
