You’ll oversee IT security, service desk, end-user computing, and critical public safety communications systems, while driving innovation and ensuring alignment with the city’s mission to serve its community effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage IT infrastructure, security, service desk, and end-user computing teams, fostering high performance and collaboration.
- Oversee daily operations of IT systems, ensuring availability, scalability, security, and compliance.
- Develop and implement strategic and operational plans for IT infrastructure, broadband, and security to support business and community goals.
- Direct the design, deployment, and maintenance of networks, servers, storage systems, desktops, cloud environments, and public safety communication systems.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and documentation aligned with regulatory and industry best practices.
- Establish, monitor, and report on the city’s security posture, including incident response and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to evaluate technology needs and deliver innovative, efficient solutions.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure adherence to service-level agreements.
- Deliver IT projects on time and within budget while meeting internal service level targets.
- Monitor emerging technologies, assess their applicability, and recommend improvements to infrastructure and operations.
- Represent IT in presentations to leadership, committees, and the public, providing clear guidance on policies, technology decisions, and security implications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in IT infrastructure, covering areas such as networks, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud, and security, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong knowledge of information security principles, risk assessment, incident response, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with industry frameworks like ISO 27001, NIST, or GDPR.
- Ability to effectively manage budgets, contracts, and personnel matters.
- Professional certifications: ITIL, CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
- Prior experience managing service desk and/or end-user support operations.
- Experience with public safety communications systems (police/fire).
- Background in managing external IT service providers and contracts.
- Experience working in the public sector or local government.
Preferred Experience
- Professional certifications: ITIL, CCNA/CCNP, MCSE, CISSP, CISM, or CISA.
- Prior experience managing service desk and/or end-user support operations.
- Experience with public safety communications systems (police/fire).
- Background in managing external IT service providers and contracts.
- Experience working in the public sector or local government.
