The Director of Finance is accountable to the Chief Executive Officer for the overall financial integrity and accountability of all programmatic and operational activities at Wellmore, Inc. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective internal fiscal controls in accordance with professional accounting standards.
Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and reporting requirements, and providing strategic financial management to support the organization’s mission and sustainability.
The Director of Finance is expected to align financial operations with Wellmore’s mission, strategic objectives, and budgetary goals. This individual must consistently uphold the highest standards of professional practice and ethical conduct.
Must maintain the utmost confidentiality regarding both agency and client matters. Proven leadership and management experience in finance, along with strong analytical and communication skills, are also essential. Experience with non-profit accounting procedures is required. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Must be capable of effectively communicating with Board of Directors, staff, clients, families and other professionals in writing and verbally. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in financial software, systems, and spreadsheet applications.
Education & Experience
Position requires a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)/Finance/related field (CPA preferred) or a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree with a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. At least 5 years’ experience in a non-profit management position is required.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Continued Competency
Must maintain a satisfactory performance evaluation.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write clear, accurate and logical routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.

- Maintain financial stability and internal fiscal controls and systems to assure compliance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Provide recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors of alternative fiscal practices or plans which would result in additional revenue, decreased expenditures and financial efficiency.
- Plan, organize and coordinate the duties of the Fiscal Department staff (functional areas noted above). Provide technical assistance regarding fiscal matters, policies, procedures and controls.
- Maintain accurate general ledger and all other financial records. Prepare financial and statistical reports as requested/required by CEO or Board.
- Monitor contract, grant and corporate budgets to ensure compliance with all applicable law, regulations and standards, maintain controlled spending and maximize available funds as well as verify that expenses are appropriate (to contract, cost center and overall line items in budget).
- Represent Wellmore to key staff at funding agencies to ensure the best possible business relationship and practices as well as contract compliance.
- Develop/draft, prepare and revision of approved budgets for all contracts, grants and proposals. Complete all necessary financial, administrative or performance data reporting in response to Request for Proposals, existing and renewal contract requirements.
- Annually review service contracts, leases, maintenance agreements, group health and life insurance, vehicle insurance, commercial insurance and workers’ compensation insurance, retirement plans, requesting bids when necessary.
- Prepare and present complete and accurate fiscal records for the annual
- Attend, staff and support Management and Board meetings as assigned.
- Achieve Wellmore strategic goals regarding financial areas.
- Produce timely and accurate fiscal reports as required by the CEO or Board of Directors.
- Draft annual operating budget by applying strong financial analysis and concrete projections based on actual operations, for CEO and Board review/approval.
- Maximize program and third-party billing/collections while maintaining compliance with all contracts, state, Medicaid, and federal standards/regulations.
- Ensure assigned areas of responsibility function in accordance with agency policy, procedure and protocol, all applicable law, regulations, and requirements, as well as meet accreditation standards.
- Work collaboratively as a member of a team with other professionals.
- Actively participate in supervision.
- Other such duties as assigned by the CEO.
