  • Develop and Lead the Accounting Function: Maintain and approve upon all accounting processes, policies, and systems to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring they adhere to GAAP and internal policies.
  • Internal Controls: Design and implement robust internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain the integrity of financial data.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in budgeting processes and financial forecasting; work closely with management to offer insights into budget performance and key financial metrics.
  • Cash Flow Management: Monitor cash flow and work with leadership on capital planning and strategies to optimize cash resources.
  • Team Building: Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing accounting team as the company grows, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work culture.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Partner with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives, including cost-saving opportunities, financing arrangements, and other growth initiatives.
  • Audit Preparation: Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, managing audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA referred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in and experience in industry in a leadership role. Experience in the logistics, transportation, or rail industry is a plus as is experience.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in GAAP and familiarity with ERP/accounting software. Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor a team, with a hands-on approach when needed.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and present to executive leadership.
  • Adaptability: Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities with ease.
