Job Summary

Chartwells at Gary Community School Corporation is seeking a dynamic, compliance-driven Director of Dining Services to lead food operations across 11 schools, serving 4,025 students. This is a high-impact opportunity for a personable, collaborative leader with a strong food service management background and sharp financial competence (including forecasting and P&L oversight). You’ll oversee a frontline team of approximately 50 Compass employees, supported by an Executive Chef and Assistant Director of Dining Services, and be responsible for driving student participation, ensuring NSLP compliance, and serving as the face of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire our team of approx. 50 frontline associates, an Assistant Director and Executive Chef.
  • Drive critical initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and increase profitability.
  • Recruit, train, and develop top talent within the organization.
  • Lead the annual budget and control costs successfully.
  • Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Build positive relationships with clients, customers, and associates.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of a dining service operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Services i.e. Nutrition/Hospitality/Culinary highly preferred or equivalent experience.**
  • Five plus years of foodservice management experience.
  • Solid understanding of high-volume food production and catering trends is preferred.
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed services experience.
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
