Responsibilities

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health Florida provides programs and services for adolescents and adults who face significant emotional, behavioral and intellectual/developmental challenges. Located in Palm Bay, FL, this position is responsible for:

• Providing Personal Care: Assist with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.
• Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management plans and support individuals in developing coping strategies.
• Skill Development: Facilitate skill-building activities, including social skills, communication, and life skills training.
• Crisis Intervention: Recognize signs of distress and de-escalate situations effectively and safely.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of client progress, incidents, and daily activities.
• Transportation: Assist clients with transportation to appointments, community activities, or school.
• Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, nurses, and family members.
• Training and Education: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices in behavioral health support.

Position Details

Salary: Starts at $16.50 - $20.18 / hour PLUS additional compensation: Shift differential (up to $2.00 / hour). Relevant experience in field (up to $2.00 / hour). Credit for higher education ($.48/hr for Bachelors degree; $.72 / hr for Masters degree).

Shifts: Currently hiring for 2nd (2:00pm to 11:00pm) and 3rd shift (10:00pm - 9:00am). You will be required to work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).

Education

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Social Work and experience in the field is preferred
  
  

Experience

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), DSP, Direct Care, Behavior Technician with experience working with IDD, Mental Health and/or dually diagnosed populations preferred
  
  

Schedule

• Must be able to complete a two-week (Monday - Friday) new hire orientation class; hours are approximately 9:00am to 5:00pm each day. Orientation is held in Titusville.
• Must be able to work at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).
• Must be able to work holidays.
  
  

Other Requirements

• Successfully pass pre-employment medical screenings which include: Drug Test, Physical, and TB Test.
• Valid driver's license
• Occasional driving of Devereux vehicles for business purposes. Must be able to drive a car and a passenger van (which holds up to 15 passengers).
