Description

The Demand Planner & Product Analyst will own a variety of planning, forecasting and reporting activities. The primary responsibility of this position will interact with a variety of departments or regions to collect sales and market data with the goal of developing a demand forecast in support of the company revenue plans. In addition, the position will be expected to own and drive a variety of projects related to demand analysis, inventory, market trends, and best practices related to forecasting, operational planning, and supply chain optimization.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the monthly Sales & Operations Planning cycle for assigned business unit and/or categories.
  • Work with the Sales, Product, and Operational leaders of assigned Brands or Geographies to derive the demand plan based on historic trends, sales results, competitive and economic influences, and comparable products.
  • Communicate the impact of market trends and resulting demand plans to management.
  • Ensure systems are maintained and updated each month with demand forecasts at the SKU level.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of a forecast performance reporting database. Identify and drive actions for improvement for any areas performing below expectations.
  • Collaborate with Dealer Sales & Service team to track the accuracy of key customer forecasts and coordinate monthly review meetings. Identify and drive actions for improvement for areas performing below expectations.
  • Review metrics and update forecasts for assigned products/geographies
  • Own the ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of demand planning systems.
  • Support the Supply Chain Management department through various data entry, reporting and analysis activities as needed
  • Support Management with ad hoc and regularly recurring profitability analysis, sales performance analysis, and other analyses with the goal of supporting the maintenance of the existing product line and introduction of new product.
  • Provide key quantitative metrics for creation of category business plans and new product briefs
  • Perform analyses to support the documentation of market size, trends, and market penetration.
  • Support investigation and analysis of new product extensions and category development
  • Drive research to clarify product and consumer needs including retail price positioning
  • Analyze SKU efficiency by monitoring the success of each product and proposing corrective actions as needed .

Requirements

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Preferred: Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain or Business w/APICS certification.

Work Experience

  • Required: 1-year full time of directly relevant work experience (planning).
  • Preferred: 2-5 years in a planning or quantitative role in a manufacturing or supply chain environment using MRP or Advanced Planning tools. International business and language experience a plus.

Skills And General Experience

  • Excellent communication and organization skills. Proven ability to follow through on assigned tasks and pay attention to detail. Ability to independently identify and take initiative for improvement and optimization of planning and forecasting tools & processes. High degree of proficiency with MS Excel is required. Knowledge of MS Access, macros, and database report writing tools is a plus. Demonstrated success in a demand planning role using planning software or algorithms. Aptitude for numbers, analytics, and an ability to compile, interpret, and communicate market trends and resulting implications to the business.

Alternative qualification: Proven ability to excel in a complex quantitative environment and extensive knowledge of the outdoor industry.

Required licenses: Passport.
