Position Purpose

The Customer Service Representative (CSR) in Toms River provides essential support by managing customer interactions, handling meter readings, processing payments, and performing administrative tasks. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask effectively.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

Principal Duties :

  • Customer Support:
    • Provide primary customer service and receptionist duties.
  • Data Management:
    • Upload and process meter readings, handle collections, and manager customer accounts.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Perform basic accounting duties, maintain records, and process work orders.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain customer relationships, ensuring satisfaction and resolving issues.
Detailed Responsibilities

  • Customer Interaction:
    • Follow customer service call flow process.
    • Address customer complaints and inquiries courteously.
    • Set up new accounts.
    • Process Start/Stop on selected accounts.
  • Data Management:
    • Upload and process meter readings in the billing system.
    • Payment processing.
    • Update shut-off lists and manage service shut-offs for nonpayment.
    • Maintain records of seasonal and frozen meters.
    • Process meter readings and handle exceptions.
  • Work Order Processing:
    • Process daily work orders and troubleshoot errors.
    • Generate and track service orders through the billing and asset management systems.
    • Schedule appointments.
    • Dispatch/Assign work orders when needed.
  • Coordination and Communication:
    • Liaise with the New Jersey office and other departments.
    • Maintain records and communicate account issues.
    • Assist field staff with customer issues, service locations and measurements.
    • Work with management on special projects especially on revenue driven work such as vacant properties, consecutive estimates and zero consumption.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Manage mail pick-up and distribution, including FedEx shipping.
    • Assist with training new hires and processing meter adjustments.
    • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • General knowledge of accounting and billing practices.
  • Computer skills (MS office, Google Workspace- gmail, drive, meet, chat, calendar, sheet, doc).
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
