Crew Transfer Vessel Deckhand

The CTV Deckhand will be responsible for supporting the Master and Mate of the vessel, including assistance with all vessel operations, maintenance of machinery and equipment, and passenger management. You will report to the Master, and support operations through technical aptitude, drive, and the understanding of the vessel’s capabilities. In addition to the responsibilities as an engineer, you will also be required to assist as with deck operations. CTV position will be 2 weeks on/off rotational shift basis. The CTV will primarily be operating on the US East Coast in the wind farm development area.
Responsibilities
- Safely perform support functions in the operation of the vessel under the direction of the Master and Mate and in compliance with all USCG, COLREGS, FCC, Class Society regulations and Company Policies.
- Achieve customer and company’s operational objectives in a safe and efficient manner.
- Assist passengers with transfer operations to the offshore installations, ensuring safety of people and equipment at all times.
- Under direction of the Master or Mate, assist with cargo operations, passenger safety briefing and management, mooring operations, cooking for the crew as required, daily housekeeping onboard the vessel.
- Conduct regular inspections and rounds of the CTV and it’s equipment to ensure all is in good order.
- Act as Protected Species Observer during CTV transits to and from the Wind Farm, reporting to the Master or Mate any observations of marine mammals.
- Participate in daily HSEQ compliance including HSEQ discussions, risk assessments, toolbox talks, completing of reports as dictated by the safety management system.
- Conduct emergency drills as required. Familiar with use of emergency equipment and ability to instruct others on its use.
- Function under the company Integrated Management System, Safety Management System and all other Company Policies at all levels.
- Maintain all applicable credentials and training as required by regulatory bodies, company policies and customers.
- Employee will be required to accommodate onboard the vessel overnight during rotation as required by operations.
- Assist as directed by the company management team.
- Actively support the Master and Mate with audits, inspections, investigations.
- Act as a safety leader to the passengers onboard in a professional manner as a direct representative of the company.
- Assist in other ad hoc tasks as required.
Qualifications
The following competencies are essential to perform this job successfully and therefore are requirements of the position. If employee does not meet all requirements, company sponsored training may be provided.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- USCG Merchant Mariner’s Credential with OS and Wiper or greater
- USCG issued Medical Certificate
- USCG required DOT Drug Test Compliant
- STCW Endorsements:
- STCW Basic Safety Training STCW A-VI/1 (Revalidation)
- Basic & Advanced Fire Fighting STCW A-VI/1 & A-VI/3
- First Aid/CPR/AED STCW A-V1/1-3
- Competence in Survival Craft other than Fast Rescue Boat STCW A-VI/2-1
- GWO Boat Transfer Certificate
- Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
- Certified in Crane Operation by OEM. (will be provided by employer)
