SUMMARY: Construction Management Associates is looking for a new team member to join their construction estimating department. This candidate should have working experience with Commercial/Multi-Family Construction projects. Some Residential Experience is a plus. The primary responsibility of the Construction Estimator is to provide take offs and estimates while insuring the highest level of accuracy. This includes the preparation of final estimates, material take offs for CMA supplied material, accurately estimate construction costs by collecting and analyzing information based on bids, review of all construction documents to have a thorough understanding of the requirements for each project, and comparisons of historic data.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Day-to-day tasks will include estimating projects based on bids received for specific projects
  • Analyzing cost data of product & labor 
  • Ensure that all project requirements are met
    1. IHDA
    2. WHEDA
    3. Disadvantage Business
    4. Labor requirements
    5. Hiring requirements
    6. Design criteria
    7. Municipal requirements
  • Posting upcoming projects for bid, receiving bids, and entering data onto spreadsheets
  • Analyzing bids received for scope of work coverage and updating systems and spreadsheets
  • Assist with Estimating and data entry to maintain cost database for multiple projects
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with suppliers and trade partners
  • Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects
  • Support management in creative solutions to improve current processes and procedures

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Experience as a Construction Estimator preferred
  • Technical college degree, 4-year degree, or in lieu of degree, years of relevant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of new construction, Historic renovation, and multi-family projects preferred
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods preferred
  • Good understanding of MS Office and Excel. Other software used: Building Connected, One Team, Plan Grid, BuilderTrend and Smartsheet
  • Good understanding of building codes preferred
  • Ability to read architectural and structural drawings with a general understanding of Civil Engineering plans, and MEP Design
  • Detail-oriented and organized individual who takes pride in work produced
  • Ability to prioritize schedule based on workload, deadlines, and communication with team
  • Good problem-solving skills
