Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs final surface inspection and conditioning of forged parts prior to shipment to customer.
  • Applies in process identification to products per instructions.
  • Conditions surface of in process parts.
  • Operates hand grinding machine and observes operation to detect part defects or machine malfunction. Changes wheels and parts as trained.
  • Measure’s part dimensions to determine accuracy of grinding operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from part.
  • Maintains work area daily to be clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Performs other routine duties.

Required Skills

  • Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Experience & Education

  • Less than high school education; or up to one-year related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
