Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade. A starting salary may be negotiated and will be commensurate with education, training and experience in alignment with pay administration policies and Montgomery Personnel Board Rules & Regulations

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to formulate and direct the public relations efforts of various city departments. ?The work responsibilities of this position are: to advise the Mayor and Communications Director on media and citizen interactions;?implement digital and social media content to disseminate to the public; coordinate with various departments and other entities to produce digital content; and develop and execute short and long-term digital and social media strategies. ?Work is performed independently, using considerable judgment, initiative, and tact. This classification reports to the Director of Communications.??

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with major course work in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the field of public affairs, public relations, public and internal information, journalism, or communications as social media content creator or similar role with proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms.? NOTE:? Qualifying education, training, and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must possess exceptional organizational and time management skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities, strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, attention to detail, and a willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends to support the city's branding strategy. The employee will work in a fast-paced environment, spending much of the day traveling from various events to meetings throughout the city, and must be able to work independently.

Kind of Examination
