A Bit About Us

At Placemakr, home meets hospitality. We’ve combined the best of apartment living, vacation rentals, and hotel stays into one experience. We partner with developers, property operators, and investors to curate a collection of apartment-like spaces in hand-picked neighborhoods. Our tech-enabled buildings create one-of-a-kind guest experiences and add tremendous value to the underlying real estate. Whether guests are with us for a night, a year, or somewhere in between, these are more than just spaces to spend the night — they’re a place to call home.

Our property team members help our buildings thrive by focusing on execution and ensuring a great experience for both residents and guests. Our non-property team members support property execution and the evolution of other areas within our platform. They can enjoy remote-first work with the freedom to choose their location — as long as they have access to a workspace and reliable Wi-Fi. We believe collaboration is key, so our remote-first teams and property leaders have biannual in-person get-togethers at various locations across the US.

From corporate non-property team members to our property teams and leaders, we’re looking for collaborative, driven individuals to join us as we continue to expand our presence.

Placemakr is entering a phase of accelerated growth and operational scaling. We're hiring a Chief of Staff - a high-potential executor and project manager whose mission is to drive strategic alignment, achieve operational excellence, and improve cross-functional accountability across some of the most critical priorities of the business.

Reporting directly to Placemakr's President and Co-Founder, you will collaborate directly with our senior-most leadership team on what matters most, own initiatives that directly affect growth, performance and future scale, and gain exposure across the full business - from high-level strategy to day-to-day execution.

As a force multiplier of the Senior Leadership Team, your mission is to amplify their effectiveness and influence across the organization, enabling them to achieve significantly more than they could alone. You will play two primary roles to support our company goals, while championing a way of working aligned with our Community Norms.

First, you will support the President in leading cross-functional strategic initiatives that require the execution of major multi-team efforts, spanning Marketing, Technology, Finance, Operations and Brand, ensuring these projects are tightly coordinated, on time and fully aligned with Placemakr's growth strategy.

Second, the Chief of Staff to the President will serve as operational support for the Platform Senior Leadership Team. You will support the President, COO and CFO in coordinating strategic initiatives across Placemakr's Platform functions, including Property Operations, Revenue, Technology, Finance and People Experience, leveraging your exceptional organizational and communication skills to deliver programs with impact.

The Chief of Staff position is a launchpad for executive leadership offering close collaborating with executives and exposure to all levels of the organization. Over time, this role will evolve into owning and optimizing high-value partnerships and growth levers for the company.

This is a remote-first, DC-based role with regular travel and in-person meetings.

What You'll Do

  • Be a Force Multiplier: Extend the impact of the Platform leadership team by anticipating needs and proactively supporting business priorities
  • Orchestrate Strategic Projects: Drive execution on multi-functional initiatives that require strong alignment and precise coordination
  • Own Project Timelines and Accountability: Ensure major initiatives move forward without losing momentum or clarity
  • Support the Platform Senior Leadership Team: Align priorities and execution across the President, COO, and CFO’s portfolios
  • Influence without Authority: Manage cross-functional relationships, competing priorities, and time and resources proactively in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Manage Up and Down the Org: Prepare execs for key decisions, synthesize information, and help ensure clarity of direction
  • Evolve Into a Strategic Operator: Grow into ownership of strategic relationships and initiatives that drive value, efficiency, and scale
  • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned

What It Takes

  • Sharp, Organized, and Accountable Generalist: Ideally a recent MBA or someone with equivalent experience in consulting, business operations, or strategic execution. You bring both breadth and depth, adapting quickly to whatever the business needs.
  • Proactive Problem Solving, Opportunity Identification and Action: You anticipate needs, spot gaps before they become problems, and take decisive action, often without being explicitly asked. You’re comfortable rolling up your sleeves to ensure success, no matter how menial a task may seem
  • Strategic Thinker with an Operator’s Discipline: You can prioritize competing goals to effectively manage time, then dive into the details to execute with precision, independently and without handholding.
  • Clear and Emotionally Intelligent Communicator: You tailor your message to any audience, from C-suite executives to frontline operators, and know how to influence outcomes while building trust. You have the ability to synthesize complex concepts and analyze data into easily understandable, actionable insights.
  • Adaptable and Ownership-Oriented: You thrive in ambiguity, take full responsibility for results, and hold yourself and others to a high bar without sacrificing relationships or trust.
  • Grounded in Dare to Lead Principles: Courageous in tackling hard truths, curious in seeking new perspectives, and committed to clarity and care in how you work with others.
  • Values-Driven Leader by Example: You embody Placemakr’s core values of You Own It. You Make It Better. You Treat People Right.
