Description

The CAD Designer is an industrial facility layout specialist who plays a crucial role in supporting Sales and Engineering by transforming initial sketches and concepts into detailed equipment layouts. These facility drawings are essential for the construction and installation of car wash bays and tunnels, ensuring projects are executed with precision and efficiency.

Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Custom Drawings: Create site and customer-specific equipment layout designs in both 2D and 3D for the North American Sales Team using primarily Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Collaborative Design: Work closely with internal and external staff including Architects, Engineers, Salespeople, and Project Managers to develop and revise drawings, ensuring they meet project specifications and customer needs.
  • Versatile Design Creation: Generate designs from various sources including PDF/CAD files, blueprints, sketches, photos, and verbal instructions, ensuring comprehensive and accurate representations.
  • New Product/Process Integration: Implement and maintain new equipment, features, and engineering principles from the Engineering Team into standard templates and processes, ensuring up-to-date and accurate designs.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple jobs simultaneously to ensure timely and efficient completion. Prioritize projects with the help of management, communicating priorities and status updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend design modifications to improve quality of project deliverables and/or design procedures. Actively pursue professional skill development and career aspirations.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide dedicated design support to Mark VII customers, contractors, and project managers, offering solutions and addressing technical inquiries with the help of Engineering.
  • Team Contribution: Actively contribute as a team member to the business results of the Mark VII organization.

Requirements

Experience and Education Competencies

Technical Competence Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of common architectural, civil, and/or mechanical industry principles.
  • High level of precision and attention to detail in creating, reviewing, and revising site drawings.
  • Hands-on experience managing, tracking, and documenting multiple project simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).

Education And/or Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design, or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical training or certifications in CAD software such as Revit and AutoCAD will be highly beneficial.

Technical Competence “good to have”

  • Familiarity with SolidEdge, SolidWorks, or other 3D product design CAD software.
  • Experience with industrial equipment and facility layouts.
  • Knowledgeable of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction industry.
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP preferred).

Communication/Language Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is a must.
  • Ability to read, write, and analyze technical documents.
  • German language exposure is a plus.

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

Pay Range: $65,000 - $85,000 USD depending on experience. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401k, life and disability, paid vacation, sick time and holidays.
