REPORTS TO: Materials Manage r

FUNCTION: Responsible for the planning development and management of procurement and production activities for a specified product family.

Essential Responsibilities

• Issues and manages purchase orders with a focus on date integrity and cost control.
• Process orders from workbench for ETO/MTO orders . Add labor steps, part steps, and subcontract steps to job orders, as needed .
• Ensure that all ETO and MTO orders are processed by the end of each workday.
• Maintain job travelers and s hop bill of materials per the Engineering Change Orders and Engineering method of manufacture (MOM) .
• Maintain and enhance relationships with suppliers .
• Utilize the ERP system to streamline and automate the scheduling and buying process.
• Communicate when there is an issue between what is required and our ability to provide it in a timely fashion.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and ensure they comply with technical and commercial requirements.
• Maintain purchasing records, files, price lists and resource materials.
• Maintain dates in computer, acknowledgement report, follow-up dates, and follow-up information.
• Recommend continuous improvement activities to reduce cost , improve quality and on-time delivery .
  
  

Adjust the production/work schedules as needed to reflect availability of materials and customer priorities

Monitor the performance of the supply base and initiate /monitor improvement plans where necessary

• Lead supplier through the resolution of discrepancies or schedule delays, including corrective and preventative actions and recovery plans.
• Analyze key inventory control measures to identify trends and opportunities for improvement .
• Active member of material review board (MRB) .
• Record supplier non-conformances and follow appropriate correction actions per department procedures .
• Assist finance with invoice discrepancies and supplier billing issues .
• Coach and mentor other B uyer /P lanners .
• Act as backup and assist other Buyer/ Planners with various duties, including sales promise dates.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
