Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst role is in the SPS Companies, Inc. Corporate Finance group. The BI Analyst performs a variety of tasks including gathering and analyzing data, identifying business problems and opportunities, and recommending solutions to improve business processes and achieve organizational goals. They work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, conduct research, and provide actionable insights.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and deploys reports and visualizations that meet business requirements
  • Translates data into clear intuitive visualizations and reports for use by end users
  • Gather and connect to data from various sources and ensure accuracy and integrity
  • Maintain company-wide certified reports and visualizations.
  • Proactively communicates and collaborates with internal customers to analyze information needs, document requirements, and prioritize them based on business value.
  • Identifies, develops, and analyzes key drivers and metrics to support decision-making and progress tracking.
  • Investigates errors, diagnoses problems, and implements solutions within BI reporting tools.
  • Optimize reports for performance and usability.
  • Perform QlikView/NPrinting responsibilities including access and basic maintenance until transition to Fabric/Power BI

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Requires ability to perform primary job responsibilities while spending long periods of time at a computer
  • 0-10% travel

Required Background, Competencies & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years of relevant business experience
  • Experience utilizing and developing BI reporting tools
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong numerical ability – use numbers as a basis in reasoning and problem solving
  • Learning agility – ability to learn, adapt, and relearn in changing situations
  • Problem solving skills – find solutions to difficult or complex issues where the answer is not always clear
  • Critical thinking – actively engage with information and situations to make smart decisions
  • Proven collaboration skills
  • Ability to learn new software and program applications
  • Ability to prioritize in a time-sensitive environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel)

Preferred Background, Competencies & Expertise

  • Power BI experience
  • Microsoft Fabric experience
  • SAP experience
