Business Analyst (ERP)

Arbor Day Carbon

Date: 3 weeks ago
City: Lincoln, NE
Contract type: Full time
Are you a force for good? Does the opportunity to devote your talents to a cause much greater than yourself excite you? Do you love solving complex problems, translating business needs into actionable solutions, and making systems work better- for the people and for the planet? The Arbor Day Foundation is a place you can do work that matters, with people who care. As we say at the Foundation: life is short, love where you work.

As one of the world's largest conservation organizations, the Arbor Day Foundation inspires people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees. We help others understand and use trees as a solution to global issues (like air quality, water quality, climate change, deforestation, poverty, and hunger) that are critical to survival.

At the Arbor Day Foundation, we’re seeking a Business Analyst who thrives at the intersection of strategy, systems, and stewardship. In this role, you’ll be the connector between vision and implementation, helping our teams deliver scalable, sustainable solutions that advance our mission to inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.

This role sits on our Technology team and reports to the Manager, Systems and Quality

What You Bring:

  • Passion. For the Foundation's mission, nature, environmental stewardship, and people.
  • Problem-solving skills with a track record of turning complex challenges/opportunities into clear, actionable business solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead discovery sessions, define functional requirements, and create user stories that enable technology teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • A systems thinker’s approach. You see how people, processes, and tools intersect, and you're skilled at identifying opportunities for improvement in current systems and workflows.
  • Skilled in producing clear, organized documentation that supports both technical execution and business clarity.
  • Experienced in QA and User Acceptance Testing; able to support testing by validating solutions, documenting issues, and ensuring teams are prepared for implementation.
  • A commitment to learning. You’re always seeking ways to improve your knowledge, skills, and the impact you make on your team and organization.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead discovery and requirement gathering for major business initiatives, working cross-functionally to understand needs, surface pain points, and translate them into clear and actionable technical guidance.
  • Deliver detailed, business-ready functional requirements that enable technology teams to build or enhance systems that improve efficiency, accuracy, and business performance.
  • Analyze existing systems or workflows, identify areas for improvement, and guide implementation of enhancements that improve usability, data integrity, or process speed.
  • Support successful delivery of projects, ensuring user stories are clear, QA processes are followed, and end users are trained and equipped with documentation to support adoption.
  • Promote continuous improvement by leading or contributing to retrospectives and team learning efforts that enhance systems and processes.
  • Act as the go-to subject matter expert on the systems you support, helping both business users and tech teams make aligned, informed decisions. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning solutions or similar is a bonus.

Love Where You Work:

  • Our work changes the world. We find deep purpose in our daily work, we’re helping to shape the planet for future generations.
  • We're in this together. A culture focused on a genuine interest in the wellbeing of others, collaboration, and the intrinsic shared purpose to do what's right.
  • We pride ourselves on the culture we’ve built. We love it, and we know you will too.
  • We care about your health. We offer competitive healthcare (health, dental, vision) coverage for you and your loved ones matched with a wellness incentives program.
  • We invest in your future. Company paid short-term and long-term disability, paid parental leave, life insurance and 401k with company match are available.
  • We know the little things matter. Team members receive a monthly parking stipend, a fully stocked kitchen, and access to a plethora of benefits at Arbor Day Farm.
  • We care about your growth. We allocate 40+ hours annually for our team members to focus on learning and development.
  • We want you to unplug when needed. We believe in taking your time off without guilt, including the week between Christmas and New Years that we close our Lincoln Campus to recharge.
  • We'll round out the experience. We put our culture first, and we host events and experiences throughout the year to show that we care about you (and your family)
