JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Purpose: The purpose of this position is to
perform custodial duties and general upkeep of the Racine Wastewater
Utility\'s buildings, structures, and grounds. HIRING PAY RANGE:
\$47,473 - \$55,851. Essential Duties: The following duties are normal
for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or
All-inclusive. Other Duties May Be Required And Assigned. Performs
general housekeeping and custodial duties, including: cleaning of
buildings, structures, vehicles, and equipment. Performs snowplowing,
grass cutting, and landscaping on plant grounds as well as remote
station locations. Performs all types of painting work including surface
preparation, caulking, patching and final painting. Cleans drains and
pipelines, removes snow from walkways, driveway and equipment, sweeps,
mops, scrubs, and generally keeps all property and ground of the plant
in a clean and orderly condition. Performs floor maintenance on various
types of flooring surfaces. Maintains small gasoline engines and related
equipment. Works cooperatively with other Utility departments and staff
to respond appropriately to emergency situations, or assist on projects
in the plant. Adheres to all safety procedures as defined by the Utility
work and safety rules. Work Environment and Conditions: Ability to work
outdoors under severe weather conditions; hot and cold. Ability to work
under moderately safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to
environmental factors such as toxic agents and machinery poses a slight
risk of injury; exposure to water treatment chemicals, noise, odor, step
climbing, slip and trip hazards, and large water basins with fall risk.
Ability to work at times in less than desirable conditions (such as
wastewater treatment basins, tunnels) under potentially unsafe and
uncomfortable conditions, where exposure to environmental factors such
as odors, dampness, chemicals, noise, pathogens, electrical currents,
and/or dusts can cause a risk of injury. Equipment Used: Lawn mowers,
portable pumps, weed whacker, edger, floor scrubber and buffer, pressure
washers, steam cleaner, painting equipment, fire hoses, miscellaneous
hand tools, shovels, snow blowers, power vehicles, Bobcat, fork lift,
hoists, hoses, step ladders, power tools, hydraulic lifts, and
miscellaneous tools and equipment. Software technology used may include
Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Time Management Software (TMS); Other
software may be applied. This job description is intended to identify

\*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Two years of prior
professional commercial or industrial complex building & grounds
experience with applied knowledge of floor care, landscape and building
maintenance. A valid state-issued motor vehicle operating license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to apply good work practices by
planning work and utilizing materials efficiently. Skill in using
specialized tools and equipment common to building & grounds maintenance
functions and have good mechanical aptitude. Physical and Mental Ability
Requirements: Language and Interperso al Communication: Ability to
utilize, interpret, and apply a variety of advisory data and information
such as instructional pamphlets, blueprints, line diagrams, meters,
gauges, operation and maintenance manuals, charts, and graphs. Ability
to communicate orally and in writing with varied and diverse contacts,
such as Utility personnel, vendor representatives, contractors, and
seasonal workers. Ability to understand and follow specific written and
oral instructions; and perform duties with a minimum of direct
supervision. Judgement and Situational Reasoning: Ability to apply
rational and ethical judgment, tact, courtesy, and diplomacy when
dealing with Utility personnel, public customers, contractors, and
vendors. Physical Requirements: Must have good dexterity with ability to
hand operate power equipment and tools. Ability to exert strenuous
physical effort to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs, typically
involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and
crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling. Must not have fear of
heights (work off ladders or scaffolds). Must be able to enter and work
in confined spaces. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, such
as goggles, face shields, gloves, boots, steel-toed shoes, masks,
