Overview
The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for managing ongoing Sharp business with Automotive OEM and Tier 1 Customer’s but may not be limited to these customers. In addition to quality experience, electrical, electronics, and mechanical aptitude is required for this position.
Responsibilities
The compensation range for this role is $98,588 - $119,000. The listed salary range or contractual rate excludes bonuses, incentives, differential pay, and any other forms of compensation or benefits. The starting salary will be determined by several variables, including but not limited to experience, education, training, certification, and location. You may also be eligible to receive an annual discretionary incentive award, commissions, and program-specific awards, which are subject to the rules governing these programs.

The Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for managing ongoing Sharp business with Automotive OEM and Tier 1 Customer’s but may not be limited to these customers. In addition to quality experience, electrical, electronics, and mechanical aptitude is required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates Quality activities to meet customer objectives and satisfaction
- Monitor, evaluate, and generate Quality and Warranty reports using Sharp systems and Customer systems for OEM and Tier 1 customers assigned
- Use, update, and manage OEM, Tier 1, and Sharp data collection and information systems as assigned
- Manage Warranty Chargeback Evaluation from OEM’s and Tier 1 customers as assigned
- Manage Local Representatives at global customer sites and work continuously with them and Sharp Japan to meet Sharp and customer scorecard objectives as assigned
- Continuously improve the capabilities of the Local Representatives to be the face of Sharp and trusted first responders for the customer as assigned
- Talk confidently with customers to reassure them and to build strong relationships. Develop trusting and professional 2-way relationships with customers by keeping them happy while managing costs
- Work with local representatives to make sure that sorting is managed properly and according to inspection standards and the SOW. Verifies that costs are appropriate and approve them for work done by third parties as assigned
- Ensure that problem situations at customer sites are managed quickly and effectively. Ensures that the Local Representatives coordinate immediate containment and direct the activities within Sharp to deliver proper Corrective Action Report (8D) submissions to the customers within prescribed time limits
- Understands “automotive” demands and knows what steps are required to meet them
- Understands both Advanced and Reactive Quality and can fluently work in either environment
- Understands Sharp standards and products. Able to act as a subject matter expert on both.
- Willing and able to travel and work globally
- Required travel to both Sharp and customer manufacturing plants to handle first level escalations on both development and launching programs
- Understands and operates within ISO/TS/IATF requirements and procedures
- Preferred: BS/BSEE, Six Sigma Certifications, and/or CQE
- 7 years of experience in automotive manufacturing
- Extensive knowledge of Quality Certifications: AIAG, Six Sigma Certifications
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, 8D, BIQS, Q1, SPC, 6-Sigma, IATF, etc. will definitely make the candidate more attractive
- International experience and ability to travel globally
- Experience with OEMs
- Moderately proficient with all Microsoft Office applications but very proficient in Excel (able to sort, pivot, and filter data to draw valid and statistically relevant conclusions)
- Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language (written and verbally).
