Responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience designing and testing electro-mechanical, pneumatic and fluid systems.
- Experience using prototyping tools and techniques.
- Experience with solid-modeling CAD software such as SolidWorks is preferred.
- Experience designing industrial or lab automated systems.
- Knowledge of robotics/automated systems, industrial pneumatics and sensors, biotech equipment and applicable standards is desirable.
- Understanding of systems with multiple variables.
- Ability to rapidly design and iterate prototypes and to work directly with vendors to specify, source and integrate components.
- Ability to travel both domestic and internationally as needed.
- Ability to take initiative and take multiple projects in a high-velocity environment, with a commitment to direct, iterative development and improvement.
- Excellent organizational, team-player and communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Design and build automated systems with a wide variety of electromechanical components, including servo systems, pneumatics, sensors, drive components, etc.
- Manage projects from requirements-identification, to initial design and prototype testing, and through release of production systems.
- Perform a variety of engineering tasks, including the planning, designing and building of electro-mechanical products, manufacturing and assembly tooling, electrical enclosures and cable assemblies.
- Design and iterate collaboratively with real-world users and use cases. Test prototypes and released products to verify compliance to design specifications. Investigate and resolve technical problems involving product performance in production equipment.
- Determine and establish product performance through engineering calculations and layouts, use appropriate engineering tools such as computer aided design (CAD), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), design for automation (DFA).
