Job Summary:
The role of the successful Systems & Network Administrator is responsible for ensuring appropriate availability, security, performance and recovery operations for enterprise class multi-user computer environments. They will perform local area and system wide computer network activities that establish an organized and reliable working environment for the customer or end-user, the JDH employee. In doing so, the Associate Systems & Network Administrator will live by the JDH culture in providing those services in a timely and professional manner all while communicating his/her plans for execution and follow through.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Specifies, configures, installs, and maintains local area network hardware, software, and telecommunications services such as personal computers, system software, software applications, printers, servers, routers, bridges, switches, modems, cabling, and Internet service providers.
- Implements policies and procedures related to network hardware and software acquisition, use, support, security, and backup.
- Establishes and maintains network users, user environment, directories, and security.
- Trains users on software and equipment usage.
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
- Communicates standards for use, operations, and security of network, personal computers, and data.
- Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems.
- Negotiates contracts with and coordinates activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, support, and training vendors.
- Installs and tests software upgrades.
- Implement script and batch files to optimize the efficiency of systems.
- Collects and analyzes network and memory utilization.
- Develops and implements disaster recovery procedures.
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-call support if necessary.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent sitting, use of computer, communication via telephone
- Ability to navigate an office environment.
- Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location.
- Job may require occasional travel within the United States.
