JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Division Director of Youth and Family Development , the Associate Division Director of Youth & Family Development will be overseeing the After-school programs. They will be charge with growing existing programs as well program development.
Job Duties Include But Not Limited To
- With support from New Settlement’s Leadership Team, the Associate Division Director will provide strategic oversight and set the vision and direction for New Settlement’s Afterschool programs.
- Train and assist Program Directors in areas of recruitment, scheduling, staffing, program design, and New Settlement philosophy.
- Meet with Program Directors to establish quarterly goals and review overall program performance. Assess and evaluate program quality through site visits and discussions with Program Directors and school administrators (provide diplomatic and constructive criticism as well as encouragement and praise).
- Build collaboration between key after-school stakeholders, especially Director’s and principals, to support the institutionalization of after-school programs. Negotiate with Principals and key stakeholders on issues of space, staffing, activities, etc.
- Encourage and support Program Directors and line staff in their professional development (identify problem areas and potential weaknesses) to build the field of after-school staff and improve program operations, offerings and atmosphere.
- Assist Program Directors in the development of needs assessment within their school communities and monitor the implementation of strategies to address those needs.
- Create a culture that prioritizes both youth and staff emotional and physical safety and well-being. Create a culture of inclusivity and equity where all identities are acknowledged and celebrated.
- Provide crisis management.
- Work closely with the Senior Division Director and other members of leadership to conduct timely review of data to inform decision-making, program design and execution.
- Review program budgets and staffing to ensure that they are aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Contribute to the development of New Settlement’s goals and objectives, as well as overall management and leadership.
- Assess and recommend new areas for program development.
- Provide leadership and management support to team of five Program Directors.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned by Senior Division Director, Associate Executive Director and Executive Director.
- Enforce New Settlement policies to ensure compliance with grant agreements and regulations mandated by after-school partners, e.g., DOE, DYCD, OCFS, DOH and other funding sources. Ensure each site maintains program files and other required documentations (DOH compliance).
- Monitor attendance reports and follow-up on individual site issues related to attendance, enrollment and contract compliance issues.
- Oversee fiscal management of programs, including analysis and completion of budgets, approval on expense reports and approving and issuing reimbursement to programs.
- Develop fiscal strategies with accounting department.
- Review, edit and approve quarterly reports for submission.
- Write annual program appraisals of program directors.
- Maintain comprehensive files for legal, correspondence, financial and grant compliance purposes.
- Participate in grant review process for new after-school programs.
- Serve as an external communication resource for New Settlement regarding issues of program quality, funding, training, research, and on-going partnerships and initiatives (e.g., relations with potential funders, policy makers from other cities, etc.).
- Serve as a knowledgebase about New Settlement programs by providing qualitative and anecdotal data to shape New Settlement policies as well as the growing field of after-school programming.
Q UALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social services, nonprofit management or related field with significant program management experience leading youth development programming.
- Exceptional leadership and emotional intelligence, with the proven ability to build effective leaders and teams.
- Have a demonstrated track record of effective problem-solving and decision-making.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to administer multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize workload, and effectively manage resources.
- Experience in developing strategic vision which incorporates staff development as a central piece.
- Maintain a relentless pursuit of results and very high standards for performance of themselves and colleagues.
- Strong analytical and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Sound judgment, high level of integrity, professionalism, a positive attitude and a sense of humor.
- Resourcefulness, creativity and strong problem-solving skills.
- Has perspective on issues of equity, diversity and inclusion, particularly as it relates to management practices and our work.
- Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
- Must be cleared and maintain clearance throughout duration of employment by NYC DOE fingerprinting process.
- Summer Camp and After School Employees must be cleared and maintain clearance throughout duration of employment by NYS DOH and DOE fingerprinting screening, NYS Central Registrar Background Check, 3 Reference checks, Staff Exclusion List (SEL), and must provide a physical examination with updated TB test.
