Hours: Full-time, Exempt. Monday- Friday, 8AM-4:30pm
Position Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Assisted Living Director & Administrator are to lead, plan, direct, and coordinate all functions of Assisted Living and Memory Care. This includes, but is not limited to, staffing and supervision, as well as coordinating and participating in the delivery of care for all Assisted Living and Memory Care residents. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, as well as resident and employee satisfaction and engagement.

Position Overview
The primary responsibilities of the Assisted Living Director & Administrator are to lead, plan, direct, and coordinate all functions of Assisted Living and Memory Care. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, as well as resident and employee satisfaction and engagement.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience required.
- Proven ability to process information accurately, make appropriate decisions, and take timely action based on available information.
- Current LPN or RN license through the Virginia Board of Nursing preferred, with 2+ years of nursing experience—preferably in long-term care.
- Assisted Living Administrator and/or Nursing Home Administrator license preferred.
- UAI/ISP certifications preferred or ability to obtain.
- CPR certification or ability to obtain.
- Strong time management and multitasking skills, with high attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrate flexibility, initiative, problem-solving, critical thinking, sound judgment, and discretion.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to read and comprehend written materials; strong phone etiquette and grammar.
- Proficiency in the use of a personal computer, printer, copier, and general office equipment.
- Strong customer service orientation; maintain a hospitality approach when engaging with residents, families, and staff.
- Leadership: Demonstrate effective leadership skills. Build trust and credibility with staff through fairness, honesty, and ethical behavior. Regularly coach, inspire, and evaluate employees. Set clear expectations aligned with Sunnyside’s goals and recognize staff achievements. Address performance issues through consistent documentation and progressive discipline.

- Staff Supervision: Supervise staff daily with fairness and consistency. Monitor and ensure quality performance.
- Staffing: Oversee the staffing schedule and secure coverage as needed to ensure uninterrupted care delivery.
- Clinical Records: Ensure resident clinical records are accurate, current, and in compliance with Assisted Living regulations.
- Performance Reviews: Complete annual performance evaluations for licensed nurses and review those for CNAs and medication aides. Provide guidance for development and improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain thorough knowledge of Assisted Living regulations and ensure compliance.
- Clinical Oversight: Interpret and implement physician orders appropriately. Prioritize and respond to emergencies and resident needs using sound judgment.
- Change in Condition: Monitor and address changes in resident condition. Ensure appropriate care is provided and follow up with residents and families.
- Infection Control & Safety: Implement and uphold guidelines related to infection control and safety. Report concerns promptly.
- Resident Care Committee: Participate in bi-monthly meetings, providing relevant resident updates.
- Care Planning: Oversee completion and use of UAIs and service plans, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. Ensure staff use care plans to guide high-quality care.
- Admissions: Meet with new residents and families to ensure smooth transitions. Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and regulatory compliance for new admissions.
- Resident Well-Being: Evaluate and support residents’ physical and social needs. Confirm appropriate placement and collaborate with team to utilize available programs and services.
