Who are we looking for?

Our Alaskan Engineering Design Organization growing throughout the region and is looking for an Architect to join the team! In this role, you will assist with the design, evaluation and implementation of new buildings and building alterations for municipal and industrial clients. You will cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team, regional leads across the West, North America and GHD’s global network.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Assisting Senior Architect by performing the routine aspects for architectural assignments
• Performing design calculations, sketches and technical comparisons
• Reviewing and editing project specifications
• Preparing and editing designs and drawings recommended by Senior Architect
• Preparing portions of project documents
• Researching code and regulatory requirements
• Researching design options, component specifications and document findings for Senior Architect and Job Manager
• Responding to contractor’s questions and preparing alternate designs as needed under the guidance of Senior Architect
• Performing analysis and design retrofit of new and existing facilities
• Managing moderately complex projects with a gross fee value around $200,000.
  
  

What you’ll bring to the team:

• Ability to communicate both conceptual designs and construction details in two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms
• Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills with 3D documentation (Revit) capability
• Working level knowledge of CADD platforms such as AutoCAD
• Expert level knowledge of Revit or similar BIM modelling software with a proven ability to manage models and perform clash detection
• Architectural modelling and detailing with proven experience with large and complex BIM project delivery
• Working knowledge of 3D scanning and data processing techniques
• A strong foundation in construction technology and sustainable design as well as a dedication to continued knowledge growth in those areas
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multi-discipline Engineering teams to meet project objectives
• Willingness and ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed (primarily day trips)
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Architecture accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)
• Licensed or close to being licensed in a U.S. jurisdiction. (Alaska preferred)
• Minimum of 6 year’s experience in the design of commercial, industrial, federal, and/or municipal buildings
